Stunning Achievements for Highland ponies at HOYS!
Five ponies qualified for the recent M&M Ridden Final at The Horse of the Year Show: Dunedin Marksman, owned and bred by Anne Mitchell, ridden and produced by Matthew Lawrence; Stirlingdene, bred by Scott McGregor, owned by Mrs S Atherden and ridden by Fraser Atherden; Xander of Mendick, bred by John and Kate Dykes, owned by Mrs Brenda Burton; Moss-side Iain Mor, owned and bred by Jean & Willie Ralston, ridden and produced by Richard Telford and Dunedin Fiona, bred by Anne Mitchell, ridden and produced by Emily Flyn. Eleven Dales ponies had qualified, five of which were bred in Scotland. Gemma Stanford qualified once again for the Cuddy Championship with Tower Clyde.
These Highland ponies represented the Breed extremely well with terrific results. The 8 year old stallion Dunedin Marksman (Muldoanich of Dalbrack x Dunedin Morag), won the initial Highland/Dales/Fell class in the morning, with another Highland, Xander of Mendick in 2nd place. Moss-side Iain Mor and Stirlingdene acquitted themselves very well but were not placed and Dunedin Fiona was not shown. Tower Clyde finished a very creditable 3rd in his class in the Cuddy In Hand Championships.
The M&M Ridden Final was held later in the evening with Dunedin Marksman going on to take the overall Championship ahead of the Welsh Cob Sydenham Hebe. Many congratulations to all those who attended.
