Minutes of the Highland Pony Society Council Meeting - held on Tuesday 27 April 2010 (ratified 1 June 2010)in the Board Room, Grosvenor House, Perth 

 

15 out of 16 Councillors were present.

 

Matters Arising Previous Minutes

Christmas card designs and costings were agreed.

The cost of re-lettering the Presidents’ Board was noted.

The results of DNA research on Foal Immunodeficiency Syndrome will be publicised when available.

Paintings to be hung in Ingliston House at the Royal Highland Showground were discussed.

A Planning Application for land adjacent to Grosvenor House was discussed.  

 

Report from President Several HPS publications had recently been released.  

Report from Secretary The late registration of a mare was approved. Following research and discussion, the issue of duplicate papers for four ponies was agreed. 

 

Correspondence 

Native Breeds Representative A nomination for a Native Breeds representative on the NPS Council was agreed. 

Privy Purse Charitable Trust A donation had been received from Her Majesty’s Privy Purse Charitable Trust.  

P&K Outdoor Access Forum A representative agreed to attend a meeting of the Perth &Kinross Outdoor Access Forum. 

The Late Mrs Kitty Lucas Mrs Kitty Lucas, who had bred five ponies under the Littlewestlands stud name between 1993 and 2002, had died in February 2010.  

Ridden M&M Flat Classes at HOYS A letter from Grandstand Media Ltd regarding HOYS qualifiers and splitting classes was discussed.  

 

 

 

Report on 2010 Accounts to Date The accounts were discussed. 

 

Welfare Reports One alleged welfare issue was discussed. 

 

 

 

 

Reports of Committee Meetings

Judges The draft of the revised Judges’ Scheme was discussed. 

Publicity Items for sale at the Society’s trade stands were discussed as was the revised publicity leaflet. 

Breeding The licensing of three colts and the registration of two ponies from France were agreed. A “Stallions at Stud” tab would be included on the website. Opportunities to hold stallion parades, trade stands at events and premium schemes were also discussed. 

 

Committee Remits Committee remits had been circulated.  

 

Southern Publicity Working Group and Trade Stands Trade Stands in the south were discussed.  

 

 

 

Reports of External Meetings SEBA Dougal Dick had been appointed as Chairman. An event in 2010 was to be planned. 

 

 

Maturing Bonds – Direction for Investments The Society’s investments would be reviewed. 

 

Nominations for Council Nominations had been invited from members. 

 

Royal Highland Show including Stock Judging Competition Arrangements for the Highland Show and the stock judging competition were agreed. 

 

Breed Show 2010 The schedule, entry form and leaflet for the Breed Show had been released and entries were being received. A query was discussed. 

 

Dinner Dances The 2010 and 2011 Dinner Dances were discussed.  

 

 

Any Other Business

Native Pony Magazine No Councillors offered to co-ordinate articles for the bimonthly Native Pony magazine.  

President and Vice-President - Contribution to Travelling Expenses It was agreed that office bearers and councillors accepted positions on Council as an honour and travel subsidies were not appropriate.

HPS DVD An offer from a Highland Pony owner/breeder, who was also a professional film producer and director and had offered to prepare a DVD at her own expense, was very well received. Council would help as required with a broad framework of the content.
