Welcome to the website of the Highland Pony Society, a not-for-profit Charity associated to the National Pony Society, which enables all the native breeds of the UK to speak with one voice. The Society, by its Memorandum and Articles of Association, looks after both the Highland pony and the member. As a member of the Highland Pony Society you will enjoy various benefits - the overall commitment of the Society through the President and the Council
- twice-yearly Newsletters
- online access to Highland pony pedigrees, breeders and owners
- Study Days and Open Days
- entry to participate in the Breed Show (open to members only)
- the support of the National Pony Society
- the right to vote for the Council
- the right to attend the Annual General Meeting and vote on issues raised
- registration and transfer of Highland ponies at a preferential rate
We are extremely fortunate and privileged to have as our Patron, Her Majesty the Queen. Her Majesty has a large working stud of Highland ponies and, during the season, sixteen ponies work over the various beats carrying stags and hinds and panniers for the grouse days. Working Highland ponies also take visitors to enjoy trekking on the estate. The Balmoral Stud goes from strength to strength and has recently been using Ulleam of Croila with their broad-based line of mares. Other native ponies, Fells and Haflingers (originally from Austria), work amongst the Highlands trekking and stalking bringing the total numbers of ponies at Balmoral to 50. |
